When school doors close for the last time before summer break, many students toss their books in a corner with no plans to reflect on academics until school begins again.

Hello, Summer Slide!

As Parade reported in a June 25, 2025 article, “some researchers have found that kids can lose up to 28% of their reading gains and 34% of their math gains over summer vacation.”

Fortunately, CABPES Summer Math Quest and Summer Math Boot Camp are engaging, innovative programs that keep scholars’ minds finely-tuned.

On July 17, Dewey Brigham, Ph.D., CABPES Executive Director, awarded certificates of achievement to our summer program graduates.

“Summer Math Quest and Summer Math Boot Camp are evidence-based, rigorous academic programs,” Charlotte Brigham, M.D., CABPES Board Member, says. “The scholars who received certificates last week are poised to excel when the new school year begins.”

Registration for 2025-2026 Programs Opens Soon

Parents and guardians interested in enrolling students in an after-school CABPES program should keep the following in mind:

• Registration for the Math Enrichment Program and the SAT/ACT College Preparatory Program will open in August.

• Registration for the Junior Engineers/Tomorrow’s Scientists Program will open in November.

• Registration for the 2026 Summer Math Boot Camp and Math Quest programs will open next March. 

Programs can fill quickly. Check the CABPES website frequently for updates and links to registration pages.
