As expected, Denver's 39th Annual Black Arts Festival was a wonderful experience. We were delighted to have so many former parents and students, as well as current students and families, stop by our booth. These guests provided inspiring testimonials of the significant impact our programs have made in their lives. We also took the opportunity to introduce our STEM programs to students, professionals, and families who were not aware of our programs.
Oversized Rubik Cubes were among the top attractions at this year's CABPES booth.
Developed by Professor Erno Rubik in 1974, the Rubik Cube puzzle requires intense focus and determination to solve. According to Parent Circle online magazine, working through the puzzle also develops mental skills, sharpens memory, improves eye-hand coordination and mental reflexes, and may even encourage participants to explore careers in engineering, science and other technical fields.
"I have no doubt that several of the youth I met at the Festival are destined for rewarding futures, and I'm grateful that our organization will be part of their journey," says Dr. Dewey Brigham, CABPES Executive Director. "In today's environment, our after-school STEM programs are more valuable than in previous years in ensuring our students excel throughout the state, across the nation, and around the world."
